Louisiana State scored five runs through the first four innings and held on for an 8-4 win over Kentucky, sweeping the Wildcats in front of 9,993 on Saturday in Baton Rouge.
Kentucky (20-24, 4-16 Southeastern Conference) got a breakout performance from senior Neiko Johnson, who returned from an injury and went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI doubles. Over the last two games of the three-game series, Johnson was 4-for-5 with three doubles and four RBI.
But UK starter Taylor Rogers (2-6) allowed four hits, three walks and five runs over 32⁄3 innings Saturday, and the Cats couldn't recover. Kentucky doesn't play again until Friday against Vanderbilt because of final exams.
