Former University of Kentucky star Logan Darnell gave up one run on nine hits and pitched a complete game in Triple-A Rochester's 8-1 victory against Norfolk on Sunday in New York.
Darnell, a Minnesota Twins prospect, had three strikeouts and improved to 4-4 with a 3.12 ERA in 14 starts this season.
"I had a couple outings where I didn't think I pitched my best," Darnell said, according to a report on the Democrat & Chronicle newspaper's website. "But getting back in the strike zone will help the problems I've had."
After averaging a walk an inning in his past three outings, he only had one Sunday.
Never miss a local story.
"This is the Logan Darnell that we know," Wings Manager Gene Glynn told the Democrat & Chronicle. "To pitch nine innings at any level is really impressive."
Darnell made his major-league debut earlier this season when the Twins were short on bullpen depth and he pitched three shutout innings, giving up no hits and striking out one against the Cleveland Indians on May 6.
