Former University of Kentucky star J.T. Riddle is headed back to Lexington on a high note.
Riddle, whose Greensboro Grasshoppers will open a series against the Legends on Tuesday night, was 5-for-7 with two doubles, a home run, three RBI and four runs scored in the Class A Grasshoppers' 20-2 rout against Asheville in North Carolina on Monday night.
Riddle, who also starred at Western Hills and was Kentucky's Mr. Baseball in 2010, boosted his batting average to .263 and has four home runs and 29 RBI in 52 games this season.
The Miami Marlins prospect has a nine-game hitting streak and has hit .410 with nine RBI during that span.

■ Former Kentucky star AJ Reed hit his first minor-league home run, a solo shot, in short-season Class A Tri-City's 5-3 win against Vermont. The Houston Astros prospect was 1-for-5, including a fly out and strikeout against fellow ex-Cat Jerad Grundy. Reed's batting .241 through 15 games.
Grundy, an A's prospect, gave up three runs (one unearned) struck out six and took the loss for the River Monsters. He's 0-2 with a 3.00 ERA in four starts.
■ Frank Schwindel hit his 12th home run of the season and Alfredo Escalera-Maldonado added his sixth in the Lexington Legends' 6-5 win against Augusta at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
Andrew Edwards (Marshall County, WKU) started and pitched four innings for Lexington. He gave up three runs on eight hits and one walk and had three strikeouts.
■ Former University of Louisville star Dace Kime, who started his season 0-9, won his fourth straight start. Kime gave up two runs and struck out five in 51⁄3 innings in Class A Lake County's 13-2 win at Dayton.
Former Eastern Kentucky University pitcher Anthony Bazzani signed a free-agent contract with the Diamondbacks. He was assigned to Arizona's rookie team in the Arizona League.
