Former University of Kentucky star AJ Reed hit the second home run of his minor-league career in short-season Class A Tri-City’s 18-4 loss to Connecticut on Tuesday.
Reed, who a second-round pick by the Houston Astros in the MLB Draft in June, also doubled and was 3-for-4 with three RBI. That gave him six RBI in the past two games.
“The at-bat before I just missed a fastball, so I didn’t want to be late, so I was gearing up for a fastball,” Reed told the Troy Record about his home run. “He threw me three at that at-bat. So it was kind of an advantage count, so I kind of put a good swing on it and hit it hard.”
Reed is 9-for-17 with two doubles, three walks and a home run in is his past five games. The five-game hitting streak has boosted his batting average to .277 for the season. He also has a .396 on-base percentage and 17 RBI in 22 games.

■ Adam Duvall (Butler, U of L) hit a pair of three-run homers Triple-A Fresno’s 14-2 win against Sacramento. Duvall, a San Francisco Giants prospect, is batting .313 with 25 home runs and 76 RBI in 70 games.
■ Alex Meyer (UK), who on Monday was added to the roster for the upcoming All-Star Futures Game, gave up two runs and struck out 10 batters in six innings but did not get a decision in Triple-A Rochester’s 3-2 win against Buffalo on Tuesday.
Meyer, a Minnesota Twins prospect, is 5-4 with a 3.43 ERA. He has an International League-leading 103 strikeouts in 89 1/3 innings over 18 starts.
■ Lance Ray (UK) was 2-for-4 with an RBI double and an RBI triple in Double-A New Britain’s 10-2 win at New Hampshire in the completion of a weather-suspended game. Andy Burns (UK) was 1-for-2, including his 15th double of the season, for New Hampshire.
■ Matt Reida (UK) was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Rays’ 6-4 win against the Red Sox. Reida’s batting .267 with four RBI in nine games.
■ Cody Forsythe (Marshall County) pitched 2 2/3 shutout innings, giving up no hits or walks and striking out two, to earn his first victory of the season for Class A Advanced Clearwater, a 3-2 winner against Tampa.
Forsythe, a Philadelphia Phillies prospect, is 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA in five relief appearances for the Threshers.
■ Adam Engel (U of L) was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and his 21st stolen base in the Class A Kannapolis Intimidators’ 12-2 win at Greensboro.
■ Tanner Norton (Bishop Brossart) had an RBI single and a double in the rookie-level Arizona League Brewers’ 5-3 win against the Giants. Norton is batting .271 with five RBI in 12 games.
■ Austin Cousino (UK) was 1-for-4 with two steals and a run scored in short-season Class A Everett’s 6-5 loss to Vancouver. The Seattle Mariners minor-leaguer has 12 steals in 13 attempts in 22 games.
■ Mauricio Ramos had five hits, scored five runs and knocked in two in the Class A Lexington Legends’ 16-8 win at Hickory. Elier Hernandez added four hits and two RBI for the Legends.
■ Pitchers Taylor Rogers (UK), Jack Snodgrass (Bowling Green) and Neil Holland (Owensboro Catholic, U of L) were named to the Double-A level Eastern League All-Star teams.
