Former University of Kentucky basketball player Rekalin Sims has been charged with trafficking in a controlled substance.

Arraignment is set for 1 p.m. Monday in Fayette District Court.

Sims played forward for UK under former coach Tubby Smith during the 2005-06 season after transferring from Salt Lake Community College.
He then transferred to Fresno State for his senior year but was removed from the basketball team in December 2007, after a judge dismissed felony robbery charges against him. Although the charges there were dropped, Sims was kicked off the team for violating the code of conduct.
