Predictions for the NCAA Tournament:
Kansas: Best team in the country. Jayhawks have ton of talent, plus terrific depth. Bill Self knows how to win it all. Plus, Kansas has the memory of that sudden loss to Northern Iowa a year ago. That should serve as an incentive, and as a bad taste in the mouth, to keep KU going all the way to Houston.
Ohio State: Buckeyes are Big Ten battle-tested and have needed ingredients. One, they have experience in three seniors — David Lighty, Dallas Lauderdale and Jon Diebler. Plus, they have freshman Jared Sullinger.
Never miss a local story.
Connecticut: There's just something about Kemba Walker and Jim Calhoun's team. The Huskies' talent is good, their size adequate. But they have a chemistry and an "it" factor.
Pittsburgh: The Panthers are overdue to reach a Final Four. Jamie Dixon has done a terrific job. Pitt doesn't have a lights-out star, but does have big, physical players.
Kansas: Rock-chalk Jayhawk again.
■ No. 13 Oakland over No. 4 Texas.
■ No. 12 Richmond over No. 5 Vanderbilt.
■ No. 12 Utah State over No. 5 Kansas State.
Hard to say a No. 3 seed is a Cinderella, but given that it lost Robbie Hummel before the season started, Purdue will have some sentimental picks in its favor.
Kentucky: John Calipari's Cats got a raw deal on No. 4 seed and an awful draw. To get to the Final Four, UK might have to beat Princeton, West Virginia, Ohio State and North Carolina. Won't happen. Road will end with loss to Ohio State in Sweet 16.
Louisville: Committee did Louisville no favors, either. Cards should beat Richmond, or Vandy, in second round, but then lose to Kansas in Sweet 16. Jayhawks too skilled, but Rick Pitino has done the best coaching job of his career.
Morehead State: Like that the committee gave Eagles a No. 13 seed, but not that it matched up Donnie Tyndall's club with U of L. Could have put it against Wisconsin or Texas.
■ Florida deserved a high seed after going 13-3 in the SEC. But if the Gators are a No. 2 seed, no way Kentucky should be a No. 4. The Cats beat the Gators two out of three, including twice in the last two weeks. UK won the SEC title matchup by 16 points.
■ Truth be told, could see SEC going 5-0 in first round. Florida and Kentucky should win easily. No. 10 Georgia could upset No. 7 Washington. No. 9 Tennessee could beat No. 8 Michigan. Problem could be Vanderbilt against Richmond.
■ Watch out for Arizona vs. Duke in the Sweet 16. The Pac-10 wasn't much this year, but Arizona's Derrick Williams is better than any Dukie. And Sean Miller can coach.
■ John Calipari could meet his friend and nemesis Bob Huggins again. The WVU coach is 8-1 all-time against Calipari.
