Coach John Calipari got the test he said he wanted. UK trailed 63-61 before finishing the game with an 8-0 run. It looked like it might be easy early. Marquis Teague, normally the table-setter for UK, penetrated at will and sparked the early offense. The UK defense held Vandy to 27 percent shooting the first half. Terrence Jones, after an early benching, went to work and UK moved out to a 36-23 halftime lead. The momentum changed in the second half and foul trouble hit UK. Vandy stormed back to tie it 48-48 with 11:56 left, then took a 55-51 lead. UK went back up four but Vandy scored six straight.
