FRANKFORT — A new bridge on U.S. 27 in Cynthiana will be dedicated Friday in the name of former University of Kentucky basketball coach Joe B. Hall.
A ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the bridge, state Rep. Tom McKee, D-Cynthiana, said Tuesday as he successfully presented a resolution to adjourn the state House in honor of Hall, a Cynthiana native.
The resolution says the new bridge "will stand as a monument to the bridge Coach Hall so artfully created when he took over" from the legendary UK basketball coach Adolph Rupp.
Hall coached the Wildcats for 13 seasons, amassing a 373-156 win/loss record, appearing in three Final Fours and winning the NCAA National Championship over Duke in 1978.
Never miss a local story.
Last November, Hall was inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame in Kansas City, Mo.
