University of Kentucky women's basketball guard Jennifer O'Neill is out four to six weeks after having surgery Wednesday to repair a fracture in her right foot.
"Unfortunately, she has a stress fracture in her fifth metatarsal on her right foot," Kentucky Coach Matthew Mitchell said Friday. "She had surgery on Wednesday. We're looking for a four-to-six week return."
O'Neill was the first female McDonald's All-American ever to sign with Kentucky. After a slow start early last season as a freshman, she played well down the stretch and finished the season averaging 5.1 points.
The 5-foot-6 sophomore guard "had been shooting the ball great," Mitchell said.
