The University of Kentucky women's basketball team was picked to finish second in the Southeastern Conference this season in a vote of the league's coaches announced Tuesday.
Defending regular-season and conference-tournament champion Tennessee received a league-high 120 points in the voting. Kentucky was second with 100 points.
The coaches voted Kentucky junior A'dia Mathies to the All-SEC first team. Mathies received one vote for player of the year.
Arkansas senior C'eira Ricketts, from Fairdale High School in Louisville, also was named to the first team.

Kentucky finished 25-9 overall last year, 11-5 in the SEC, and advanced to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments for the first time since the 1981-82 and 1982-83 seasons.
The Wildcats open the 2011-12 season — head coach Matthew Mitchell's fifth at UK — on Friday night at Morehead State.
