Kentucky women's basketball junior guard A'dia Mathies was named to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association All-America Team. She joins Victoria Dunlap as the only UK player to earn the honor.
Joining Mathies as USBWA All-Americans were Elena Delle Donne (Delaware), Skylar Diggins (Notre Dame), Chelsea Gray (Duke), Brittney Griner (Baylor), Shenise Johnson (Miami), Nnemkadi Ogwumike (Stanford), Samantha Prahalis (Ohio State), Odyssey Sims (Baylor) and Alyssa Thomas (Maryland). The 10 players are finalists for the USBWA National Player of the Year award, which will be announced April 3.
Mathies was named a third-team All-American by The Associated Press on Tuesday.
Mathies led Kentucky in scoring (15 points per game), assists (2.7 per game), steals (2.6 per game) and three-point field goal percentage (.378).
