The Southeastern Conference announced its 2015-16 women's basketball schedule Thursday, and it features at least two nationally televised games on ESPN networks for Kentucky.
Kentucky takes on likely preseason top-five team South Carolina — its permanent opponent — twice. The Wildcats also play two rotating opponents — Vanderbilt and Auburn — two times this season. UK meets the remaining 10 league teams once each.
Kentucky will open league play at Auburn on Jan. 3.
Both Vandy and Auburn finished in the bottom four of the league last season. UK has won seven in a row over Auburn and nine straight against the Commodores.
Other schedule highlights include an SEC home opener Jan. 7 versus Alabama, then a trip to Georgia on Jan. 10. Kentucky also will travel to Ole Miss, where the Cats were upset 67-59 last season. Kentucky also will have road games against likely preseason top 25 teams Mississippi State (Feb. 18) and Texas A&M (Feb. 28).
The Cats will be a part of Big Monday on ESPN2 on Feb. 25 when Tennessee comes to Lexington and will be on an ESPN channel vs. Texas A&M.
UK will have several back-to-back road games this season, including a game at Florida on Jan. 31 followed by the trip to Columbia, S.C., on Feb. 4. The game at Vandy on Feb. 14 is followed by a trip to Mississippi State.
Kentucky's Senior Day is Feb. 25 against Missouri.
