Five Players You Know
Winston Guy: A fourth position switch in as many years doesn't seem to faze the former Lexington Catholic standout. As a hybrid linebacker in UK's new defense, the senior is expected to get to the ball fast and disrupt opposing offenses.
Danny Trevathan: The SEC leader in tackles last season (11.1 per game) as a junior still manages to keep surprising coaches with his improvements in the off-season.
Stuart Hines: A two-year starter at guard, this senior is a leader on a veteran offensive line that will be counted on to help an inexperienced offense.
Larry Warford: Coaches say this junior could be the greatest offensive lineman to play at UK by the time he leaves. SEC coaches already have put him on their first-team pre-season all-conference team.
Morgan Newton: This summer, Newton worked to transform his game and his attitude for his junior year, making him a key leader for a young offense that desperately needs leaders.
Five Players You Will Know
Collins Ukwu: This defensive end is not a household name despite starting every game last season as a sophomore, but he will be by the end of the season. Coaches say he's one of the hardest-working players on the field.
Raymond Sanders: One of the smartest football minds on the team, the sophomore running back could take advantage of a veteran offensive line and go for big gains this season.
Daryl Collins: This freshman wide receiver was being called the team's next Randall Cobb before suffering a season-ending knee injury in practice last week. Even Cobb told coaches he believes the versatile Collins could be better than he was at UK. The injury puts Collins' future on hold, but he's expected to be redshirted and be ready for spring practice.
Mister Cobble: Coaches hope nagging academic issues are behind the sophomore from Louisville and that he will be a key cog in the new defensive system.
Josh Clemons: This freshman, who was the 4A high school offensive player of the year in Georgia last season, has the look of an elite SEC runner and likely will be before he leaves UK.
