Breaking down Kentucky's 48-10 loss to Florida quarter by quarter:
Summary: UK's defense started strong, then Josh Clemons fumbled at the UK 45. One play later, the Gators were up 7-0. Then speedster Jeff Demps scored from 20 yards. After a Morgan Newton interception, a dazzling 27-yard Chris Rainey run set up a 21-0 Gators lead.
Thumbs up: Kentucky did not have a kick blocked.
Never miss a local story.
Thumbs down: Kentucky turned it over twice. Can't do that and have a chance.
Summary: Newton was hit at the 2 and UF picked up the fumble and scored for a 28-3 lead. A drive of more than 8 minutes resulted in a Florida field goal. Newton hit La'Rod King for a 19-yard score to make it 31-10 after Danny Trevathan caused and recovered a fumble.
Thumbs up: Thank goodness for Danny Trevathan. What a motor.
Thumbs down: UK could not block the Gators defense, which is becoming the norm.
Summary: Track star Jeff Demps flew by the Kentucky defense for 84 yards — the longest run by a Gator since a guy named Emmitt Smith went 96 yards in 1988. The Gators added a field goal after a Newton interception.
Thumbs up:Ryan Tydlacka's 49-yard punt to the Florida 1. He's UK's offensive MVP.
Thumbs down: Newton turned it over again.
Summary: Kentucky fans got a look at freshman QB Maxwell Smith seeing his first college action. As advertised, Smith has a nice arm, but this offense needs Tom Brady and more. Mike Gillislee went 60 yards for the Gators' final score.
Thumbs up: It meant little, but Smith kept a few fans in the stands.
Thumbs down: Florida has scored more than 40 points five straight years against UK.
