Summary: A 56-yard Nic Brassell run on a reverse to the Kentucky 17 set up a 3-0 Rebels lead. Soon after, Mississippi drove to the UK 3, again settling for a field goal. Late in the quarter, CoShik Williams got the Wildcats offense moving to the Rebels 2.
Thumbs up: Winston Guy was a defensive highlight with six tackles — two saving touchdowns.
Thumbs down: Ole Miss loves trick plays yet surprised UK with a reverse on the third play.
Summary: Williams scored from the 2 on the quarter's first play. Ole Miss went almost 13 minutes in the quarter before getting a first down. A Danny Trevathan interception set up a 48-yard Craig McIntosh field goal. QB Max Smith completed several nice throws.
Thumbs up: The Kentucky defense shut down the Rebels (38 yards in the quarter).
Thumbs down: UK was inside Ole Miss territory three times without scoring.
Summary: The Rebels completed a 12-play, 72-yard drive with a 21-yard TD pass. Kentucky moved the ball at times but was unable to sustain drives. Neither team seized momentum as both went into the final quarter looking for their first SEC win.
Thumbs up: Ryan Tydlacka's 37-yard punt pinned Ole Miss at its 5-yard line.
Thumbs down: Even when in position, the UK secondary gave up big plays.
Summary: UK went up 16-13 after a nice Smith to La'Rod King 38-yard TD pass. It stayed 16-13 until UK took over at its own 15 with 5:26 left. Smith threw a perfect bomb to King for 55 yards to the 6. Two plays later, he hit Gene McCaskill for an 8-yard TD.
Thumbs up: Led by the now very promising Smith, the UK offense answered when needed.
Thumbs down: At 16-13, a missed extra point by McIntosh could have been costly.
