Lexington Mayor Jim Gray Friday made a friendly wager with Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer on the outcome of the annual Governor's Cup game between the University of Kentucky and University of Louisville football teams.
If the Wildcats win Saturday, Fischer has agreed to give Gray a personalized Louisville Slugger bat.
If Louisville wins, Gray will send Fischer a bottle of Town Branch Bourbon. The bourbon, named for the creek that flows under the heart of downtown, is made by Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co. In 2012, Town Branch Distillery became the first distillery built in Lexington in more than 100 years.
"There's a lot of excitement about Coach (Mark) Stoops and his team," Gray said in a news release.
Never miss a local story.
"The Big Blue Nation is looking forward to taking back the Governor's Cup!"
Kickoff is set for noon Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium. For more information, go to UKathletics.com.
