The University of Kentucky football team experienced a second straight good news/bad news day on Saturday.
Defensive lineman Za'Darius Smith announced via Twitter that he plans to return for his senior season. Earlier in the day, UK confirmed that wide receiver Daryl Collins will transfer.
Those revelations came one day after defensive lineman Alvin "Bud" Dupree announced he would bypass the NFL Draft to play his senior season at Kentucky and running back Dyshawn Mobley said he would transfer.
Smith, a junior-college transfer who has one more season of eligibility remaining, tied for third on the team with 59 tackles in 2013. Smith also registered six sacks and six quarterback hurries.
Never miss a local story.
Collins, who signed with the Cats amid much hype in 2011, dislocated his right kneecap in pre-season practice before ever playing a snap for Kentucky.
After sitting out the 2011 season, Collins played in all 12 games in 2012, catching 17 passes for 171 yards. This season, Collins saw action in only seven games, catching one pass for 5 yards while appearing mostly on special teams.
