Torian Graham, one of UK basketball's top recruiting targets in the class of 2012, committed to N.C. State on Monday.
Graham said UK was his No. 1 school as recently as last month, but new N.C. State coach Mark Gottfried made the Raleigh, N.C., native a top priority from his first day on the job.
"I wanted to stay close to home," Graham told Rivals.com. "I wanted to play close to my mom and dad. It was real important. I wanted to be around my family, so I could be comfortable."
Graham, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard, is ranked No. 25 overall by both Rivals.com and Scout.com. He played last season at Word of God Academy, which is John Wall's alma mater.
Graham is also close friends with top 2012 guard Rodney Purvis, who recently decommitted from Louisville. Purvis is now considering Louisville, Kentucky, Duke and N.C. State, and has said he would like to play on the same college team as Graham.
"I want to get Rodney Purvis to come to NC State with me, so we have a chance to play for a national championship," Graham said.
