A Georgia high school football player who had reportedly received a scholarship offer from the University of Kentucky died after being injured in a high school football scrimmage in Atlanta on Friday night.
DeAntre Turman, a 5-foot-11 junior cornerback at Creekside High School, died after getting hurt on the Banneker High School field, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office on Saturday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
A school spokesperson told the newspaper that Turman, 16, was transported to Atlanta's Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died.
According to 247Sports.com, Turman had a scholarship offer from Kentucky Coach Mark Stoops.

"He was definitely a (Division I) corner," former Creekside head coach Johnny T. White told the AJC of Turman.
No details were released about how Turman was injured, the AJC said, and an autopsy is pending.
