University of Kentucky defensive tackle Matt Elam from John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown came to the Wildcats as not only one of their most-hyped recruits ever but as one of the most physically imposing players in UK history.
Elam, listed in the UK media guide as 6-foot-7, 375 pounds, said Thursday that he's down to a svelte 360 pounds. The freshman said that represents a 30-pound drop since his arrival on the UK campus.
Elam, who chose Kentucky over perennial Southeastern Conference power Alabama, said he feels like a "totally different guy" and more ready to help his team as he gets more fit.
Watch Elam talk about his weight loss, his adjustment to college football and his plans for the future in this video interview after Thursday's practice.
