Lexington will be the center of the high school basketball recruiting world this weekend, and the big event is open to the public.
The Nike Elite Youth Basketball League is coming to town for three days of games at the Kentucky Basketball Academy, which will devote five courts to many of the best high school players in the country. Tickets for the event will be $5 for Friday's session, and $10 each for all-day passes Saturday and Sunday.
The games begin AT 6:30 p.m. Friday, with Saturday's schedule starting at 9:30 a.m., and Sunday's games beginning at 8 a.m.
The 40-team lineup includes most of UK's top recruiting targets from the classes of 2016 and 2017. Among the players expected to play are Jayson Tatum, Harry Giles, Malik Monk, V.J. King, Tyus Battle, Jamal Murray, Udoka Azubuike, M.J. Cage, Miles Bridges and Edrice Adebayo from the class of 2016. Most of those players already have scholarship offers from Kentucky.
UK also has shown an interest in several class of 2017 players who will be in Lexington this weekend, including top-five prospects Michael Porter Jr., Troy Brown, Zach Brown and Wendell Carter.
A detailed schedule of games and much more information on the Nike EYBL event will be available in the Herald-Leader and on Kentucky.com throughout the week.
