University of Kentucky basketball signee Isaiah Briscoe and three of the program’s top recruiting targets were among 12 players named to the Team USA U19 squad Wednesday.
Briscoe — a five-star point guard from New Jersey — will join UK targets Harry Giles, Josh Jackson and Jayson Tatum on the team, which will represent the United States at the FIBA U19 world championships June 27-July 5 in Greece.
The other players on Team USA will be Villanova signee Jalen Brunson, Oklahoma State signee Jawun Evans, Louisville’s Chinanu Onauku, Georgetown’s L.J. Peak, Purdue signee Caleb Swanigan, Arizona signee Allonzo Trier, UCLA’s Thomas Welsh and high school standout Terrance Ferguson.
The 12 players who made the team were chosen from a pool of 21 players who attended the ongoing USA Basketball training camp in Colorado Springs, Colo. Those 12 players will continue to work out in Colorado until June 21.
Briscoe is one of four players in UK’s recruiting class of 2015. He will join his future college teammates in Lexington a few days after the conclusion of the FIBA world championships.
Giles, Jackson and Tatum are generally regarded as the top three players in the class of 2016, and all three are being recruited by Kentucky.
