Under-the-radar linebacker Jamar "Boogie" Watson announced his commitment to the University of Kentucky on Monday night.
Watson — a 6-foot-3, 220-pound prospect from Forestville, Md. — is considered a two-star outside linebacker in the class of 2016 by Rivals.com, which is the only recruiting service that has given him a star ranking.
He visited UK and Virginia in consecutive weekends late last month and ultimately chose the Wildcats over the Cavaliers. Watson is also one of his high school team's star basketball players, averaging 11.4 points per game as a junior this past season.
UK wide receivers coach Tommy Mainord is the program's primary recruiter for Watson, who became the Wildcats' 22nd commitment for the class of 2016. They're only expected to take one or two more players before national signing day in February.
Watson joins Paintsville star Kash Daniel and Ohio native Roland Walder as the third linebacker in UK's class of 2016. Jaylin Bannerman — another Ohioan — is listed as a defensive end but could also play linebacker in college.
Rivals.com ranks UK's class at No. 12 nationally and fifth in the Southeastern Conference behind Louisiana State, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia.
