There's now an end date on the much-followed recruitment of No. 1 high school basketball prospect Harry Giles.
The 6-foot-10 power forward will announce his college decision Nov. 14 at the Phenom National Showcase in his home state of North Carolina.
Giles — a Winston-Salem native — has been one of the most coveted players in the class of 2016 since his freshman year in high school. UK Coach John Calipari extended a scholarship offer before his sophomore season and has been a regular visitor at his high school and AAU games ever since.
Giles visited UK for Big Blue Madness in 2013 and returned to Lexington for that same event earlier this month. Despite UK's sustained interest, Duke is viewed by recruiting analysts as the heavy favorite to land his commitment.
Never miss a local story.
The Blue Devils will host Giles for his official visit to Durham this weekend, and one of his best friends — fellow five-star recruit Jayson Tatum — has already committed to the program.
Kansas and Wake Forest join UK as the other schools still in contention for Giles, who is ranked by Scout.com as the No. 1 overall player in the senior class.
Giles is playing his senior season for Oak Hill Academy in Virginia.
Change of plans
Five-star post player Jarrett Allen has postponed his official visit to Kentucky, which was originally scheduled for this weekend.
Instead, the 6-10 prospect from Austin, Texas, will stay closer to home and visit the University of Houston this weekend. Allen will take his official visit to UK the following weekend. He's also considering Notre Dame, Kansas, Texas, North Carolina, Indiana and Kansas State.
Scout.com ranks Allen as the No. 16 overall recruit in the class of 2016.
