Demonte Harper made two free throws with 34 seconds left, and Morehead State defeated East Tennessee State 60-58 on Friday night at Morehead.
Harper gave the Eagles (4-4) a 58-55 lead on a jumper with 1:04 remaining.
Jarvis Jones tied the game on a three-pointer with 56 seconds left. But the Buccaneers (5-7) turned over the ball twice in the final minute as Micah Williams lost the ball out of bounds and Jocolby Davis traveled.
East Tennessee State led 26-25 at halftime, and the Eagles scored the first six points of the second half for a 31-26 lead on Kenneth Faried's layup with 18:45 to go.
Faried, No. 2 in the nation in rebounding (12.6 per game), finished with 16.
Harper finished with 17 points, Terrance Hill 13 and Maze Stallworth (John Hardin) 12 for the Eagles.
Duke's Czyz to transfer
Olek Czyz (CHIZZ) is leaving Duke's basketball team. School officials said Friday that Czyz is planning to transfer to another Division I school.
The 6-foot-7 sophomore was primarily a backup forward who started the first two games this season as the seventh-ranked Blue Devils (8-1) went to a bigger lineup with guard Nolan Smith serving a two-game suspension.
Czyz, a native of Poland who played at Reno High School in Nevada, averaged 10 minutes and 2.5 points in the six games he played.
Gerrity cleared to play for Southern Cal
Mike Gerrity has been granted a waiver by the NCAA and is eligible to play basketball for Southern California. The school said Friday that Gerrity was granted a progress-towards-degree waiver. The senior guard transferred to USC from Charlotte following the first semester of the 2008-09 season. The previous season, he averaged 4.7 points and 3.5 rebounds in 26 games.
Cincinnati 62, Eastern Kentucky 49: Talisha Davis had a game-high 16 points to go with six rebounds in the Lady Colonels' loss at Cincinnati. EKU freshman Alex Jones (Elizabethtown), who recorded her fourth double-double in the last five games, had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Campbellsville 83, Shawnee State 66: Whitney Ballinger (Carroll County) had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead 10th-ranked Campbellsville (10-1) past visiting Shawnee State (9-2). The win avenges a 106-58 loss to Shawnee last December. Courtney Danis (Montgomery County) followed Ballinger with 20 points. Shawnee State, ranked No. 4 in NAIA Division II, was led by Jill Cropper's 21 points.
Briar Cliff 99, Georgetown 95: Jayme Gilbert (Clay County) scored 23 points to go with seven rebounds and four assists in the Lady Tigers' loss in the Cruzin Classic at Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Indiana Wesleyan 61, Lindsey Wilson 56: Indiana Wesleyan hit 13 three-pointers in a win at Campbellsville. Lindsey Wilson was led by Sierra Rambert, who had 19 points and five rebounds.
Marshall 73, Morehead State 71: Chynna Bozeman scored a season-high 27 points, but the Eagles were edged by Marshall at home.
Pikeville 84, Asbury 76: Pikeville bolted out to a big lead and held on to give Bill Watson his 200th win as the Lady Bears' coach. Pikeville led 49-30 at the half.
