NASHVILLE — Jasmine Rayner and Nicole Jamen both notched double-doubles Friday as third-seeded Austin Peay knocked off No. 2 seed Morehead State 78-71 in the semifinals of the Ohio Valley Conference women's basketball tournament.
The Lady Govs (14-17) will defend their tournament title in a rematch of last year's title game, taking on top-seeded Eastern Illinois at Bridgestone Arena at 4 p.m. Saturday. The Panthers beat Tennessee-Martin 65-51 in Friday's first semifinals.
Rayner, a 5-foot-10 sophomore, finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Jamen, a 5-11 senior from Cameroon, had 13 points and 15 boards.
Ashley Herring led Peay scorers with 21.
Whitney Hanley added 16 and also had the task of defending OVC Player of the Year Chynna Bozeman. Bozeman finished with 27 points, two rebounds, four assists and four steals. But she and her teammates had a tough time getting open looks at the basket.
Bozeman finished 8-for-27 from the floor, including 5-for-18 from three-point range. As a team, the Eagles shot 25-for-81, 11-for-42 from long range.
Tiffany Hamilton added 14 points for Morehead (22-10) and Tiffanie Stephens had 12. Deja Watson had four points and 11 rebounds.
"I think we played hard enough to win," said Mike Bradbury, Morehead's coach. "Our effort was there. We just weren't quite good enough today."
