Rain showers again tried to interfere with the Kentucky State Amateur at Big Spring Country Club in Louisville on Wednesday. But all golfers finished the second round, despite a 2 hour, 10-minute delay in the late afternoon.
Morehead State's Logan Hogge added two strokes to his first-day lead to sit at 6-under 138 heading into Thursday's finale. He had four birdies in a round of 70 Wednesday.
J.B. Williams, an Akron junior-to-be from Danville, birdied No. 8 and was even the rest of the way to move up to 4-under par 140.
University of Kentucky golfer Tyler "Chip" McDaniel, who won the tournament by six shots in 2013, had a more steady day after a rocky finish in Tuesday's opener. The former Clay County star was tied for third with Joshua Rhodes of Paducah. UK's Cooper Musselman was tied for fifth at 1-under 143. He had five birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey.
Chris Gilles remained the leader among Lexingtonians, tied with three others for eighth place.
Tom Campbell, last year's winner, had six bogeys and shot 5-over par 77.
