The KHSAA soccer and wrestling championships will be held at new venues in the 2011-12 school year.
The boys' and girls' state soccer semifinals and finals will be played at Paul Laurence Dunbar the first week of November and also in 2012. Dunbar has an all-weather field made of artificial turf.
"Fan interest and participation for soccer have grown tremendously, and our championships have reflected that," said KHSAA assistant commissioner Mike Barren.
"We will be taking a very close look at ... our soccer tournaments over the next two years, including the location and even the format itself. The move to Dunbar is by no means permanent."
Never miss a local story.
The soccer championships have been at Toyota Stadium in Georgetown since 1999.
The state wrestling championships will be moving to the new Alltech Arena on the grounds of the Kentucky Horse Park in February.
The arena has permanent seating for more than 5,500 fans. It also has more room on the floor for additional mats and matches, which will allow the tournament to be completed in two days. It had been taking three days at the Frankfort Convention Center, where it's been since 1996.
