Lafayette and Scott County have been the class of 11th Region high school softball all season and hope that form continues when district tournament play begins this week.
Lafayette, ranked 11th in the state, opens 43rd District Tournament play Tuesday at Lexington Christian against the winner of Monday's LCA-Paul Laurence Dunbar game.
The Generals take a four-year, 48-game winning streak against Lexington competition into district play but will be without senior pitching and hitting standout Emily Kincaid, who is out for the season with a broken finger.
Scott County, ranked No. 7 in Kentucky, has not lost a game against a team in its district or region this season.
The Cardinals open play in the three-team 42nd District Tournament on Tuesday night.
