Bowling Green Eastern needed just four innings Saturday to roll to a 13-0 win over Wisconsin Burlington and earn the Great Lakes Region Championship.
The Kentucky team's eight-run second inning at Stokely Field came on an RBI single by John Morrison; a home run by Tayshaun Jones (who tallied 4 RBI on the play); a sacrifice fly by Maddox Burr; an error; and an RBI single by Devin Obee, according to the Little League World Series website.
Eli Burwash pitched all four innings of the shutout for Bowling Green, allowing just three hits.
As the Great Lakes Region Champion, Bowling Green will face off against the West Region winner — either Southern California or Hawaii — in the first round of the Little League Baseball World Series on Thursday, Aug. 20, at 7 p.m.
Bowling Green has outscored opponents 22-15 throughout the tournament so far, going 3-1 overall. Wisconsin handed them the lone loss, 10-0, on Thursday.
