The Fayette County Soccer Spectacular, the season-opening girls' high school tournament in Lexington, rolled on Wednesday night with Woodford County, Boyle County and Clark County securing victories
Woodford County battled 13th-ranked Tates Creek to a scoreless tie before the Yellowjackets put away the Commodores 3-2 on penalty kicks. The win pushed Woodford into Saturday's semifinals.
Campbell County, ranked No. 11 in the preseason coaches' poll, has also locked up a spot in the semis by winning its group.
Clark County finished second in its group after a 5-1 win over Lafayette on Wednesday.
Tenth-ranked Boyle County defeated No. 15 Henry Clay 4-2 on Wednesday but still has work to do. The Rebels take on Boone County on Thursday (8 p.m.), with the winner moving on to the semis.
Thursday's other game pits Paul Laurence Dunbar against Madison Southern (6 p.m.). Both of Thursday's games are at Dunbar.
