Johnson Central senior kicker Tyler Pack has a well-known leg. He set the state record on a 60-yard free-kick field goal against Greenup County as a sophomore in 2013. He is ranked fourth nationally as a kicker and kickoff specialist by Prokicker.com and sports a 90 percent success rate on field-goal attempts.
But this might be the neatest thing he's done: Pack kicked a 52-yard field goal using a friend's head to hold the ball.
Classmate JD Harless — the guy who put his face on the line for the kick — posted two videos to Twitter on Tuesday: the one above and another showing a closeup of his face as Pack approached for the kick (Warning: Video may contain language).
Another wrinkle: the person who recorded the first video was Josh Hitchcock, a baseball and basketball player at Johnson Central with whom the Herald-Leader spoke in July after he lost his home to the flooding that struck eastern Kentucky in July.
