“Bounce: The Basketball Opera” will premiere in Lexington next month. Ardea Arts, a company in New York, partnered with the UK Opera Theatre to produce the show.

Fired girls’ basketball coach says western Kentucky high school ‘wanted more white coaches and white players’

LaVonda Johnson, who was the head girls’ basketball coach at Bowling Green High School since the 2007-08 season, was fired on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2017. Johnson alleged in a press release that her assistant coaches coaches were fired after the 2015-16 season because the principal, William King, wanted the staff and team to “reflect the diversity of the school.”
