Republic Bank Classic at Lexington Catholic
■ In a battle of Kentucky's top two girls' teams, No. 1 Marion County squeaked out a 44-42 victory over Manual in the tournament's finals. The Lady Knights' Kyvin Goodin-Rogers scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and was named tournament's most valuable player. Bre Elder added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Marion County. Lauren Bodine had a team-high 11 points for the Lady Crimson, and Mechael Guess had eight points and 10 rebounds.
■ Marion County defeated Elizabethtown 54-39 to reach the finals. Makayla Epps led the way with 19 points and four assists. Bre Elder and Kyvin Goodin-Rogers added 13 and 11 points, respectively.
■ Led by 18 points from Mechael Guess, Manual reached the championship by defeating Louisville Christian 60-50 in the semifinals. Antonita Slaugher had 37 points and nine rebounds for the Centurions.
■ Liz Walton scored 17 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked five shots in Lexington Catholic's 60-57 consolation victory against Assumption. Anna Gayle Scott and Jill Maronde added 11 points apiece for the Knights. Molly Ernst led the Rockets with 19 points and six rebounds.
■ Lafayette's Ali Ross scored 16 points in a 71-43 loss to host Boone County in the Northern Exposure Classic.
■ Keller Menke hit the game-winner among her 11 points as Mason County held off Woodford County 45-44 for third place in the Berea Holiday Classic. Beth Queen led the Royals with 16 points. Defenders of the Station at Bryan Station
■ Fern Creek cruised past host Bryan Station 74-53 in the third-place game. Tyren Robinson led the Tigers with 19 points and five rebounds. Mike Baffour had 17 points and six rebounds for the Defenders.
■ Henry Clay jumped out to a 23-10 lead through the first quarter and never looked back, defeating Danville 83-50. Marquel Johnson led the Blue Devils with 15 points. Trae Stewart had 10 points and eight rebounds.
■ Kendale Reed's 23 points and nine rebounds helped Clay County defeat Paul Dunbar 65-51. Bryce With had 18 points, and Lamont Johnson added eight points and 13 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
■ Jeffersontown shot 55 percent from the field and held Male to 30 percent in the Chargers' 65-49 victory in the tournament championship. Thomas Jackson and Richard Kennedy scored 22 and 20 points, respectively, and both hit a pair of three-pointers. Tony Horne scored 25 points, grabbed seven rebounds and went 10-for-10 from the free-throw line for Male.
■ Mike Walker had 25 points and Domonique Hagans 23 as Lafayette shot 55.4 percent and dominated in the paint in an 87-65 win at Mercer County. Hagans also had a team-high eight rebounds. ■ Elisha Justice had 25 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists and seven steals for Shelby Valley in a 76-53 win at Betsy Layne. Tyler Newsome added 21 points for the winners.
■ Knox County Central outlasted host North Laurel 101-98 in two overtimes in the Hoopin' It Up Holiday Classic behind 27 points and 11 rebounds from senior forward Cody Miller. Tanner Broughton added 17 points, including the shot that forced the first overtime. North Laurel got a career-high 45 points from Adrian Wardup.
■ Trenton Gilbert scored 13 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter as Wolfe County slipped past Lee County 71-69 in the Monticello Holiday Classic. Deron Terrill netted the game-winner from inside the lane with 0.2 seconds to play. He finished with 17 points. Senior guard Guy Wise led the Bobcats with 23 points.
