Aaron Ponder scored 19 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter to help Madison Southern rally for a 74-65 victory against Model in the 44th District tournament in Eastern Kentucky University's McBrayer Arena on Tuesday.
The Eagles trailed by five heading in the final quarter before Ponder scored the first eight of his team's 35 fourth-quarter points. Ponder also had 13 rebounds.
Chris Roberts added 18 points for the Eagles. Cody Sizemore had 16 points and 11 rebounds for Model.
Madison Southern will play No. 16 Madison Central in Friday night's championship.
Mercer Co. 63, West Jessamine 50 (46th): Austin Seagraves and Mathew Honchel scored 27 and 25 points, respectively, and the Titans took control with an 18-4 run that started near the end of the third quarter. Dylan Pohl had 18 points and six rebounds for the host Colts.
Mercer County will play East Jessamine in the title game on Friday night.
Franklin Co. 62, Western Hills 56 (41st): The Flyers used a 13-point advantage in the third quarter to pull away. Ryan Timmons scored 21 points and Logan Curry had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Franklin County, which will play Woodford County or Frankfort in Friday's title game.
Marion Co. 64, Campbellsville 62 (20th): Deshawn Douglas' late tip-in off a missed shot gave Marion County (15-11) the victory over visiting Campbellsville (18-9). Josh Brockman, who scored 24 points, was 4-for-9 from three-point range. Carlos Litsey added 13 rebounds to go with four points.
Montgomery Co. 76, Bourbon Co. 64 (40th): The Indians pulled ahead in the second quarter, outscoring the Colonels by 11. Omar Prewitt led Montgomery County with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Boyd Co. 59, Fairview 54 (64th): Boyd County's Matt Middleton scored 18 points. Michael Terry had 19 points, 12 rebounds and six blocked shots for Fairview.
No. 18 Perry Central 42, Buckhorn 30 (54th): Seventh-grader Braxton Beverly scored 18 points and Dillon Cornett had nine points, 12 rebounds and four blocked shots for host Perry Central (21-5).
Fleming Co. 57, Bath Co. 56 (61st): Freshman guard Darion Burns had 22 points, 11 rebounds and five assists for Fleming County.
Madison Southern 50, Model 45 (44th): The Lady Eagles trailed most of the first half, led by as many as 12 points in the third quarter and then held on to beat the Lady Patriots. Mary Mullins scored 16 points, grabbed nine rebounds and was 9-for-10 from the free-throw line for Madison Southern (9-17).
Burgin 44, East Jessamine 40 (46th): Randi Burke scored 11 points and Burgin advanced to play Mercer County in Thursday's title game.
No. 8 Boone Co. 68, Conner 57 (33rd): Sydney Moss, the daughter of NFL star Randy Moss, scored 32 points in the Lady Rebels' victory.
Pendleton Co. 69, Deming 55 (38th): The Lady Cats' Tayler Black hit four of her five-three pointers in the first quarter and finished with 30 points.
No. 6 Sacred Heart 72, Waggener 21 (27th): The Valkyries, who opened the game on a 31-3 run, scored 53 points off 42 turnovers by the Wildcats. Maddie Peabody had 17 points and nine steals for Sacred Heart (22-5).
Ballard 67, Seneca 31 (27th): Alexus Colbert hit four three-pointers and scored 21 points to go with six rebounds and five steals for Ballard.
