Drew Trimble’s layup with 12 seconds left gave Lexington Christian’s boys a 78-76 double-overtime victory at Lexington Catholic.
The Knights, 14th in Dave Cantrall’s Rating the State, had sent the game to overtime with a pair of free throws from Reese Ryan with 8 seconds to go. And they got a three-pointer from Tanner Johnson with 4 seconds left to get it past the first overtime.
Matt Rose led the Eagles (7-5) with 25 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks. Michael Young added 20 points and six rebounds. Trimble had 11 points and four assists.
Johnson finished with 25 points, including five-three pointers, for Lexington Catholic (10-4). Ryan had 15 points and 12 rebounds.
■ No. 3 Scott County (12-2) cruised to a 91-49 victory against visiting Harrison County. Trent Gilbert hit five threes and finished with 25 points, six rebounds and four assists.
■ Chase Caldwell had 17 points and nine rebounds in West Jessamine’s 84-22 victory at Burgin. Colts star Daulton Peters played only the first quarter and had 15 points and four rebounds.
■ Woodford County’s Sam Souers scored a career-high 29 points in a 75-65 victory against visiting Madison Southern. Grayson Graf added 19 points and Eli Boggess had 16.
■ No. 5 Covington Catholic (11-0) remained undefeated with an 87-77 victory at No. 8 Holmes. Nick Ruthsatz scored 21 in the Colonels’ win. James “Beetle” Bolden had 28 for the Bulldogs.
Lexington Catholic’s Bailey Browning scored 21 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out 10 assists in a 72-46 victory against visiting Lexington Christian. The Lady Knights outscored the Lady Eagles by 11 in both the third and fourth quarters.
■ Shakeema Jackson scored 29 points and No. 13 Paul Dunbar defeated host Montgomery County 67-53.
