Nannilena White’s layup with 1:13 to go in the third quarter gave Franklin County the lead and the Lady Flyers, No. 8 in Dave Cantrall’s Rating the State, held on from there in a 60-54 victory at home over No. 3 Sacred Heart. White and Malaka Frank scored 18 points apiece. Frank had eight rebounds and White had four assists and three steals. DaiJia Ruffin led the Valkyries with 18 points, 15 rebounds, six assists and four blocked shots.
T’Laya Lyvers scored the go-ahead basket with 28 seconds left and Henry Clay went on to win 61-59 at home against Woodford County. Kyvers finished with 16 points.
Lexington Catholic outscored host Lexington Christian by 15 in the third quarter en route to a 52-38 victory. Rachel Blake and Hannah Gadberry had 14 points each for the Lady Knights.
Lakeysha Stennis scored 19 points and Bryan Station defeated host Montgomery County 63-62 in overtime.
Tereka Guyn scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in Scott County’s 82-39 victory at Fairdale.
Scott County boys get 16th straight win
Raekwon Long scored 29 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked four shots in No. 3 Scott County’s 82-70 victory over No. 16 Henry Clay at Georgetown. The Cardinals, winners of 16 straight games and scheduled to face top-ranked Louisville Trinity on Saturday, also got 24 points, seven rebounds and seven assists from Trent Gilbert.
Jeremiah Tisdale led the Blue Devils with 24 points, seven steals, four rebounds and three assists.
Another big night from star Jackson Davis — 29 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and four blocks — sent No. 10 Lafayette past host Lexington Christian 81-66 in the Central Bank Classic. Dequise Robinson added 17 points and Lance Blakely had 14 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Hayden Smith scored 28 points, including six three-pointers, in East Jessamine’s 73-56 win at West Jessamine. The Jaguars also got 14 points, 13 assists and six rebounds from Ronnie Carson.
Sayre jump-started the game on a 30-9 run and Justin Sanders had 25 points, 13 rebounds and four assists in a 65-51 victory at home against Pendleton County. Quinn Pergande added 15 points, eight rebounds and five blocks for the Spartans.
Fleming County’s Darion Burns, rated one of the top 25 players in the state, scored eight points in his season debut, a 58-54 victory at Rowan County. Burns, a 5-10 senior, had been recovering from knee surgery.
