Drew Moore blocked Samuel Hemmerich's shot to prevent a game-winning field goal in Dixie Heights' 61-59 win in overtime against Conner in the quarterfinals of the 9th Region boys' tournament at Northern Kentucky University.
The Colonels' Brandon Hatton, who scored a game-high 26 points, became the 31st player in state history to score 3,000 career points when he got his sixth points in the second quarter.
Moore finished with nine points and Hemmerich led Conner with 21.
Dixie Heights will face No. 7 Holmes in the semi-finals on Sunday. No. 10 Covington Catholic and No. 3 Newport Central Catholic will play in the other semifinal.
No. 7 Holmes 60, Highlands 41 (9th): James "Beetle" Bolden scored game-high 19 points and Quinton Chames added 10 points and 10 rebounds in Holmes' win.
Augusta 75, Robertson Co. 62 (10th): Brent Bach, a senior guard, scored 43 points for the Panthers (20-11) in the quarterfinals at Mason County. Bach went 6-for-10 from three-point range and also had 10 rebounds.
Montgomery County 64, Bishop Brossart 49 (10th): Bryan Wallace scored 24 points and had five rebounds in the Indians' quarterfinal win at Mason County.
Bardstown 55, Adair County 41 (5th): L.J. Cowherd scored 24 points in Bardstown's win in the quarterfinals at Marion County. The Tigers will play John Hardin in the semifinals.
Ashland Blazer 45, No. 14 East Carter (16th): The Kittens pulled off an upset in the region finals at Morehead State to become to team to reach the girls' Sweet Sixteen.
It will be Ashland Blazer's third straight Sweet Sixteen appearance and Alexis Robinson was named region tournament MVP for the third straight time, too.
Johnson Central 69, Pikeville 56 (15th): Jayla Spurlock scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the semifinals in Pikeville.
