Sophomore Taveion Hollingsworth scored a career-high 40 points in Paul Laurence Dunbar’s 84-73 victory over Manual, ranked seventh in Dave Cantrall’s Rating the State, in the King of the Bluegrass Showcase at Fairdale in Louisville. Hollingsworth was 15-for-22 from field and also had eight rebounds.
Darius Williams, a junior, added 30 points and 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
Jekobi Wells and Koebe Garrard scored 19 and 17 points, respectively, to lead Paris past Sayre 64-54. Garrard also had nine rebounds, three assists and three steals. The Spartans got 26 points and five rebounds from Jake Duby.
No. 8 Henry Clay led by as many as 22 points before cruising to a 55-42 victory against visiting Lafayette. T’Laya Lyvers led the Blue Devils with 12 points, 11 rebounds and four steals. The Generals’ Ashanti Thomas had 18 points and 10 rebounds while teammate Dee Givens was held to five points.
Gabby Bowie scored 26 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and blocked four shots in Sayre’s 55-49 win against Robertson County.
Peyton Riddle scored 21 points, including going 5-for-9 from three-point range in Scott County’s 72-51 defeat of Western Hills in Georgetown. Lauren Boehm added 10 points, 14 rebounds and four steals for the Lady Cardinals.
Top-ranked Elizabethtown rolled to a 62-49 victory over No. 8 Butler in the finals of the Louisville Invitational Tournament at Bellarmine. Erin Boley scored 25 points to lead the Lady Panthers.
