Kenny Turner has stepped down as Bryan Station's football coach after one season.
Bryan Station athletics director Chad Luhman said Turner resigned Monday because of personal reasons, not because the Defenders went 1-10.
"I don't want people to spin it that he had a bad season so he's getting out," Luhman said. "It was because of health reasons, something that plagued him throughout the season.
"I know I saw a different Coach Turner than I had seen and observed before. He was unable physically to handle some things."
Never miss a local story.
Turner, 52, came to Bryan Station from Madison Central where he had a seven-year record of 50-31. He was fired after the Indians went 0-9 in 2009.
Turner could not be reached for comment.
