Pikeville 63, Sheldon Clark 20: Cody Estep and Daric Pugh each scored two first-half TDs for the Panthers in the rout.
Estep, a senior, caught a touchdown in the first quarter and returned a kickoff for a score with :27 left in the second quarter.
Pugh, a junior who had 13 TDs for Pikeville (4-0) over its previous two games, rushed for scores of 3- and 12-yards out in the first half.
The loss capped off a tenuous week for the Cardinals (1-2), who saw head coach Shawn Hager fired Tuesday and rehired on Wednesday.
Never miss a local story.
Hager told the Herald-Leader earlier this week that he was dismissed as Cardinals head coach and was suspended from teaching after a "heated" discussion on Tuesday between he and Martin County Superintendent Steven Meadows regarding sewage in the Cardinals' home locker room.
"I was totally blindsided," Hager said.
Hager and his lawyers met with the superintendent on Wednesday. He was given back his coaching job and had his suspension lifted.
