NEW YORK — Trainer D. Wayne Lukas says Dublin will not be entered in the Belmont Stakes, eliminating the chance of any horse running in all three Triple Crown races this year.
Dublin finished seventh in the Kentucky Derby behind Super Saver and fifth in the Preakness behind Lookin At Lucky.
The trainers of Super Saver and Lookin At Lucky have already said their colts are bypassing the Belmont on June 5. The other Derby-Preakness runners Jackson Bend and Paddy O'Prado are not being considered, either.
Setsuko, who finished second in the Santa Anita Derby but did not have enough graded earnings to make the Kentucky Derby, will also skip the Belmont. The colt will get a couple of months off after the discovery of inflammation in his ankles, according to the Daily Racing Form.
Leparoux, Borel out
Jockey Julien Leparoux, who went down in a spill at Pimlico Race Course last Friday, will be out for about two weeks after he was discovered to have a compression fracture in his back.
"He had an MRI done Tuesday and that's when the fracture was discovered. He will be out a week and a half to two weeks," said Steve Bass, Leparoux's agent.
Calvin Borel was off all of his mounts Thursday because of an eye infection.
"He is off today and maybe Friday, but he hopes to be back Saturday," Borel's agent Jerry Hissam said.
