Richard Jeffery, the course designer for the National Horse Show, looked at the oldest trophy unveiled Monday at the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park. The trophy was the first presented at the National Horse Show in 1883.
Dignitaries, including Kentucky's First Lady Jane Beshear, welcomed the Alltech National Horse Show prized trophy collection during a changing-of-the-guard ceremony.
The trophy collection that dates back to the 1700s has an estimated value of more than $1 million worth of silver. Thirty-four of 120 trophies were brought to Lexington.
Five were included in Monday's ceremony. The trophy collection was previously being stored in the vaults of Tiffany's and Cartier in New York City.
