Bodemeister, winner of the Grade I Arkansas Derby and runner up in both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, was being shipped to WinStar Farm on Wednesday afternoon and will be evaluated by Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital, majority owner Ahmed Zayat posted on his Twitter account.
"Bode arrived at Winstar for diagnostic procedure. He has an appointment tomorrow at Rood n Riddle to tell us what's wrong with him," Zayat posted.
The Bob Baffert-trained colt has not started since his second-place finish behind I'll Have Another in the Preakness Stakes and has not had a published workout since July 8. The son of Empire Maker missed an expected start in the Grade I Haskell when he spiked a temperature at Santa Anita Park in mid July.
"No one here in Ca knows what's wrong with him," Zayat said in another Twitter post.
Never miss a local story.
Owned by Zayat Stables and Mike and Tiffany Moreno, Bodemeister is slated to stand stud at WinStar Farm upon his retirement.
