Kody Hinze's two home runs powered the Lexington Legends to a 4-2 win over the Greenville Drive on Tuesday night at Applebee's Park.
Hinze's first home run, a solo shot, broke up a scoreless game in the bottom of the fourth inning. In the sixth, after J.D. Martinez singled, Hinze hit a drive estimated at 420 feet that sailed over the bleachers in left to give the Legends a 3-0 lead.
The two-homer game continued a hot streak for Hinze, who leads the South Atlantic League in home runs with 12 and RBI with 43. He was named SAL Player of the Week for May 10-16 after getting 11 hits in 22 at-bats, with two homers and seven RBI.
Greenville rallied in the eighth inning. Back-to-back homers by Vladimir Frias and Jeremy Hazelbaker cut the lead to 3-2.
The Legends added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth on Rene Garcia's two-out single.
Lexington closer Kirk Clark pitched out of trouble in the ninth, getting the last out on a deep fly to right with two runners on.
