Curtis Petersen and two relievers combined to allow two singles as the Greensboro Grasshoppers shut out the Lexington Legends 3-0 Friday night at Applebee's Park.
Petersen (2-4), whom the Legends had beaten twice earlier in the season, pitched seven innings, walked three and struck out four. He was replaced by Sandy Rosario after Aaron Bray led off the eighth inning with a single. Rosario finished a scoreless eighth, and Alejandro Ramos retired the Legends in order in the ninth to pick up his eleventh save.
Petersen also allowed a first-inning single to Kody Hinze following a walk to J.D. Martinez. Martinez was the only Legend to reach second base in the game.
Robby Donovan (4-4), whose string of consecutive scoreless innings was snapped at 17 when Greensboro scored in the first, was the losing pitcher.
