Home runs by Jarek Cunningham and Aaron Baker helped West Virginia build an early four-run lead, and the Power took the opener of a four-game series with the Lexington Legends 7-3 on Tuesday at Applebee's Park.
Jose Altuve, J.D. Martinez and Andrew Simunic each had three hits for the Legends.
Martinez tripled and scored on a Simunic single in the second inning. Jacob Goebbert doubled in another in the seventh. Lexington's other run came on an error.
Maurice Bankston (3-2), who relieved starter Phillip Irwin in the fourth inning, got the win. Bankston pitched three innings and gave up two runs on four hits and two walks. He struck out three.

David Duncan (3-1) suffered his first loss of the season. He gave up five runs on six hits and a walk. He had six strikeouts. Luis Cruz gave up a pair of runs in relief. Jose Trinidad pitched a scoreless ninth inning.
Jiovanni Mier, the Legends' shortstop, left the game in the bottom of the first inning because of back spasms, but was OK after the game.
