Tanner Bushue and Brian Streilein combined for a three-hit shutout and the Lexington Legends beat the Savannah Sand Gnats 2-0 Tuesday night at Savannah, Ga.
Bushue (3-0) worked the first six innings, allowing two hits and two walks with two strikeouts. The 19-year-old right-hander from Kinmundy, Ill., stretched his streak of consecutive shutout innings to 15 and lowered his ERA to 1.80.
Streilein gave up one hit over the final three innings to earn his first save of the year. He has not allowed a run in three appearances covering 52⁄3 innings.
The Legends broke through in the fifth. Telvin Nash and Adam Bailey started the inning with singles. Nash scored on Mike Kvasnicka's groundout and Bailey came home on a wild pitch.
Wallace is player of week
Lexington Legends' catcher-designated hitter Chris Wallace has been named South Atlantic League Player of the Week for the period of April 7-17.
Wallace batted .434 (16-for-36) with five doubles, five home runs and 17 RBI.
His on-base percentage was .535, and his slugging percentage was 1.000. Wallace leads the league in homers, RBI and slugging percentage.
