The Greenville Drive scored five runs in the sixth inning and rallied from a three-run deficit to beat the visiting Lexington Legends on Monday night. The Drive scored four of those runs with two out.
Lexington starter Carlos Quevedo allowed two doubles and one run in the first three at-bats, sending him to the dugout. Reliever Jose Garcia (1-1) then walked two straight batters to load the bases.
After a foul pop-out, Greenville's Heiker Meneses hit a grounder to center field, scoring two. Drew Hedman singled in two more in the next at-bat, and that was it for Garcia. Jason Chowning took the mound and stopped the bleeding, but it was too much for the Legends to overcome.
Lexington scored a run in each of the first two innings and added two in the top of the sixth on Emilio King's RBI double.
Never miss a local story.
Greenville's win evens the three-game series 1-1.
