The Drive welcomed Lexington reliever Euris Quezada with a three-run seventh inning to break a 2-2 tie and go on to a 5-3 victory over the Legends at Greenville, S.C.
In for starter Luis Cruz, Quezada (0-1) walked Bryan Johns to lead off the seventh, then allowed him to reach second on a balk. Johns reached third on a flyout, then scored on Garin Cecchini's double. Cecchini scored on a single by David Renfroe, who moved to third on a Keury De La Cruz single that chased Quezada. Renfroe then scored on a force-out.
Quezada was called up from spring training just this week
A Legends rally in the ninth inning was short-lived. Matt Duffy, who had a double and later scored in the fourth inning, led off with his third double of the game. Duffy moved to third on a groundout, then scored on Brandon Meredith's sacrifice fly.
Drew Muren singled and stole second, but Roberto Pena popped out to first baseman David Renfroe in foul territory to end the game and even the series at a game apiece.
